What are the three jewels called in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion?

The story behind the answer

The three jewels in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion are called the Silmarils.

The Silmarils were three radiant jewels made by Fëanor, the greatest craftsman among the Noldor Elves. They contained the light of the Two Trees of Valinor, Laurelin and Telperion, making them far more than ordinary gemstones.

The jewels drive much of the central conflict in The Silmarillion. The rebel Fëanor and his sons swear an oath to recover them after the dark being Morgoth steals them and carries them to Middle-earth. Their fate connects the stories of Elves, Men, and many kingdoms across the First Age.

The Silmarils are often confused with other famous Tolkien objects. The Arkenstone is a single jewel associated with the dwarves of Erebor, while the Rings of Power are magical rings created in a different historical period.
