The ESRB assigned Cyberpunk 2077 a Mature 17+ rating in the United States.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board gave the game an M rating for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol. The rating reflects the game’s adult themes, combat, dialogue, and depiction of Night City’s criminal and corporate worlds.
Mature 17+ is not the same as Adults Only 18+. The ESRB’s M category generally indicates content considered suitable for players aged 17 and older, while Adults Only is a stricter category. Cyberpunk 2077 received M, not AO, despite its explicit material.
Age ratings can differ by region and organization. The ESRB rating applies to the United States and should not be confused with classifications from PEGI in Europe or other national systems. The rating also describes content; it does not measure the game’s quality, sales, critical reception, or technical performance.
