Whar sword does Gandalf Salvage from the troll's horde?
Answer
Glamdring
Answer
Glamdring
Gandalf salvages Glamdring from the trolls’ hoard in The Hobbit.
Glamdring is an ancient Elven sword from Gondolin, a hidden city of the First Age. In Tolkien’s history, the sword was wielded by Turgon, Gondolin’s king, before eventually being lost and buried with other treasures.
During The Hobbit, Gandalf, Thorin Oakenshield, and Bilbo discover three stone trolls and search their cave after the trolls are exposed to sunlight. The hoard contains three famous blades: Gandalf takes Glamdring, Thorin takes Orcrist, and Bilbo receives the short sword later named Sting.
A common mix-up is choosing Sting because it becomes Bilbo’s signature weapon, or Orcrist because it is another famous sword taken from the same hoard. Glamdring later becomes associated with Gandalf the White and is sometimes called Foe-hammer.
