Through which type of presentation was Pokémon Pokopia first announced?

Pokémon Pokopia was first announced through a Nintendo Direct.

The announcement took place in September 2025, when Nintendo revealed the game as a new Pokémon spin-off focused on building, crafting, and creating habitats. Its presentation introduced the human-form Ditto protagonist and the game’s unusual slow-life approach.

This announcement is easy to confuse with Pokémon Presents broadcasts, which are dedicated to Pokémon news and often reveal games or updates. Pokopia’s first reveal instead came through a broader Nintendo Direct presentation, placing it within Nintendo’s general software announcements.

The reveal also established the game’s platform and broad premise before later material supplied more details about characters, systems, and release timing. The worldwide launch followed on March 5, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2.
