The University of Haiti is located in what capital city?
Answer
Port-Au-Prince
Answer
Port-Au-Prince
The University of Haiti is located in Port-au-Prince, the capital city of Haiti.
The institution now commonly known in English as the State University of Haiti, or Université d’État d’Haïti, is Haiti’s principal public university. Its faculties and administrative structures are based in Port-au-Prince, although the university has connections and facilities associated with education beyond the capital.
The university’s history reaches back to the early twentieth century. Various faculties were brought together as the University of Haiti in 1942, and the institution later became the State University of Haiti. It has played an important role in training professionals and supporting Haiti’s intellectual and public life.
Port-au-Prince lies on the Gulf of Gonâve in the country’s western region and is Haiti’s largest city and political center. A common mix-up is choosing Cap-Haïtien, another important Haitian city. Cap-Haïtien is in the north, while Port-au-Prince is the national capital and the university’s principal location.
