The triangular Toblerone chocolate bar originates from which country?
Answer
Switzerland
Answer
Switzerland
The triangular Toblerone chocolate bar originates from Switzerland.
Toblerone was created in Bern in 1908 by Swiss chocolatiers Theodor Tobler and Emil Baumann. Its recipe combined milk chocolate with honey-and-almond nougat, giving the bar a distinctive flavor and texture. The name blends “Tobler,” the family name of its creator, with torrone, the Italian word for a type of nougat.
The bar’s linked triangular prisms are often associated with the Matterhorn, the famous mountain in the Swiss Alps, although another origin story says Theodor Tobler was inspired by a pyramid-shaped finale performed by dancers at Paris’s Folies Bergère. The packaging has also featured a bear hidden in the mountain design, referencing Bern’s heraldic symbol. Toblerone remains Swiss in origin even though Mondelēz International now owns the brand and some production has taken place outside Switzerland.
