The Netflix series “Disenchantment” takes place in the fictional kingdom of Dreamland.
Dreamland is a medieval-style fantasy realm ruled at the beginning of the series by King Zøg. Its central figure is Princess Tiabeanie, usually called Bean, a rebellious royal who resists an arranged marriage and the expectations attached to her position. She travels through the kingdom with Elfo, an optimistic elf, and Luci, her mischievous personal demon.
The setting combines familiar fairy-tale ingredients—castles, monarchies, elves, demons, ogres, and magic—with Matt Groening’s satirical style. Dreamland is not simply a backdrop: its royal family, political conflicts, neighboring lands, and buried history drive the show’s longer story arcs.
Viewers sometimes confuse Dreamland with Steamland or Elfwood, which are important locations visited during the series. Steamland is a technologically advanced neighboring kingdom, while Elfwood is connected to Elfo and the series’ wider magical mythology. The main kingdom, however, remains Dreamland throughout the show.
