The Masters Tournament is played every year at which golf club in Georgia?
Answer
Augusta National
Answer
Augusta National
The Masters Tournament is played every year at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
Unlike the other men's major championships, the Masters has a permanent host venue. It is held at Augusta National, a private club founded by golfer Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts. Jones co-designed the course with renowned architect Alister MacKenzie after the site had served as a plant nursery.
The first tournament was held in 1934 under the name Augusta National Invitation Tournament. It was officially renamed the Masters Tournament in 1939. The event is traditionally played in April and is the first of the four men's majors each season, although the 2020 edition was postponed to November because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Augusta National is known for its flowering plants, fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and distinctive traditions. The champion receives a green jacket, a custom that began in 1949. Oakmont, Pinehurst and Pebble Beach have hosted other major championships, but none is the permanent home of the Masters.
