The Lamborghini Centenario marked the 100th birthday of which person?
Answer
Ferruccio Lamborghini
Answer
Ferruccio Lamborghini
The Lamborghini Centenario marked the 100th birthday of Ferruccio Lamborghini.
The Centenario was unveiled in 2016 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of Automobili Lamborghini. The name “Centenario” refers to a 100-year celebration, making the car a tribute to the person whose tractor business and automotive ambitions led to the creation of the Lamborghini marque.
Based on the Aventador, the Centenario combined a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 with extensive carbon-fibre construction, four-wheel drive and advanced aerodynamic features. Its engine produced 770 CV, and Lamborghini quoted a 0-to-100-kilometre-per-hour time of 2.8 seconds. The car was presented as a technological and design showcase rather than a conventional series-production model.
Only 40 examples were planned: 20 coupés and 20 roadsters. That makes it distinct from the Veneno, which celebrated Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary, and from the Reventón, which was inspired by a famous fighting bull. Giotto Bizzarrini, Marcello Gandini and Nuccio Bertone were important figures in Lamborghini’s engineering and design history, but none was the person commemorated by the Centenario.
