The Disappearance is a six-part limited series about a missing boy during a treasure hunt. In the 2017 Canadian mystery drama, 10-year-old Anthony Sullivan disappears while taking part in a birthday treasure hunt arranged by his grandfather, Henry.

The series follows Anthony’s family and the police investigation after he vanishes in the Montreal suburbs. What begins as a child’s birthday game becomes a much darker mystery as investigators uncover long-buried secrets within the Sullivan family.

The show premiered on CTV in Canada in October 2017 and contains six episodes, including “Birthday Boy,” “The Tree,” “Sacrifice,” “Treasure Hunt,” “Burial Grounds,” and “Redemption.” It later aired in the United States on WGN America.

A common mix-up is confusing this Canadian series with the similarly titled 2015 French series The Disappearance, which concerns a missing teenage girl in Lyon and has eight episodes. The six-part series in this question is the 2017 Canadian production centered on Anthony’s disappearance.
