The 2020 Tesla Cybertruck concept is known for its angular design made of what material?

The story behind the answer

The Tesla Cybertruck concept is known for its angular design made of stainless steel.

Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck prototype in Los Angeles on November 21, 2019, although it is sometimes discussed in connection with the 2020 model year. Its sharp, faceted shape contrasts with the rounded panels used on most pickup trucks, giving the vehicle a deliberately futuristic, low-polygon appearance.

The prototype’s exterior used flat, unpainted stainless-steel body panels. Tesla selected the material for its durability and distinctive bare-metal finish, but stainless steel is difficult to form into complex curves. That manufacturing challenge helped explain the Cybertruck’s unusually straight creases and planar surfaces.

The concept is often compared with the DeLorean because both use exposed stainless-steel bodywork, but they are different vehicles from different eras. Fiberglass, carbon fiber, and aluminum are all used in automotive construction, yet none is the canonical answer for the Cybertruck’s exterior panels.
