The 2006 Rolls-Royce 101EX concept previewed which production model?
Answer
Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe
Answer
Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe
The 2006 Rolls-Royce 101EX concept previewed the production Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé. Rolls-Royce revealed the grand-touring coupé prototype at the 2006 Geneva International Motor Show, and its design led directly to the production two-door model.
The 101EX used a shortened version of the aluminum space-frame technology from the Phantom saloon. Compared with the four-door Phantom, it had a shorter body, lower roofline, and shallower glass area, giving the concept a more sporting grand-tourer profile while retaining Rolls-Royce’s imposing proportions.
The production Phantom Coupé was unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, with production beginning in summer 2008 and sales starting in autumn. It was a two-door derivative of the Phantom rather than a replacement for the smaller Ghost.
The nearby Rolls-Royce 100EX concept can cause confusion: it previewed the Phantom Drophead Coupé convertible. The 101EX specifically pointed toward the fixed-roof Phantom Coupé.
