The 1987 Citroën Karin concept car offered seating for how many occupants?

The story behind the answer

The 1987 Citroën Karin concept car offered seating for three occupants.

The Karin used an unusual three-seat arrangement: the driver sat centrally, slightly ahead of two passengers positioned to either side and farther back. This layout made the cabin one of the concept’s defining features, although the car itself was never developed as a normal production vehicle.

Despite the question’s 1987 date, English-language references identify the Karin as a 1980 concept unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. It was designed by Trevor Fiore and had a dramatic truncated-pyramid shape, flush glazing, covered rear wheels and butterfly doors. Its roof was reportedly about the size of an A3 sheet of paper.

The central driving position is easy to confuse with the later McLaren F1, whose three-seat cockpit also placed the driver in the middle. The Karin predates that supercar by more than a decade, but unlike the F1 it remained an experimental design study rather than a production road car.
