Saudi Aramco is headquartered in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Dhahran is an important center for the country’s petroleum industry and lies in the Eastern Province, near the larger urban area that includes Dammam and Al Khobar. Saudi Aramco’s headquarters complex reflects the company’s role in exploration, production, refining, chemicals, and energy technology.
The company originated from the California-Arabian Standard Oil Company, established after an oil concession was granted in 1933. Oil was discovered commercially at Dammam Well No. 7 in 1938. The business later became fully owned by the Saudi government and adopted the name Saudi Aramco. Its initial public offering on the Saudi Exchange in 2019 made it one of the largest IPOs ever recorded. Dhahran is sometimes confused with nearby Dammam, but Dammam is a separate city and the provincial capital.
