Beyoncé released her seventh studio album, Renaissance, in 2022.
Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records released Renaissance on July 29, 2022. It was Beyoncé’s first solo studio album since Lemonade in 2016 and began a planned trilogy of albums. The project is often described as a dance-oriented album drawing on house, disco, funk, and dance music.
Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s first solo Billboard Hot 100 number-one single since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” in 2008. The album also includes “Cuff It,” “Alien Superstar,” and “Virgo’s Groove.”
Renaissance is sometimes called Act I because Beyoncé presented it as the first part of a larger trilogy. Its follow-up, Cowboy Carter, arrived in 2024, but that later release does not change Renaissance’s 2022 release date.
