Denmark observes Father’s Day on June 5 each year.
Unlike countries that place the holiday on a particular Sunday, Denmark uses a fixed calendar date. June 5 is also Constitution Day in Denmark, so the two observances share the same date and can overlap in public life.
Danish Father’s Day is commonly marked with greetings, presents, and family time. The fixed date makes it different from the American system, where the holiday moves between June 15 and June 21 depending on which Sunday is the third one.
June 5 can create confusion because it is also associated with Sonora Smart Dodd’s original 1909 proposal for a U.S. Father’s Day. In Denmark, however, June 5 is the established annual date, not merely a historical proposal.
