The British series Dragon's Den originally aired on BBC Two.
The programme launched on that channel in 2005 as the United Kingdom's adaptation of the Japanese format Money Tigers. BBC Two has traditionally carried factual, documentary and specialist entertainment programming, making it the original home for the business-pitch series.
Dragon's Den later became a major BBC franchise, but its initial broadcasts should not be confused with the channels that carried international adaptations. The American version, Shark Tank, is a separate licensed programme with its own network history and investor panel.
The programme's early BBC Two broadcasts helped establish its familiar structure: entrepreneurs enter the den, describe their company, state the amount sought and offer a percentage of equity.
