The British business programme Dragon's Den first premiered on BBC Two in 2005.
The series is a British adaptation of the international Dragons' Den format, in which entrepreneurs present businesses to wealthy investors and negotiate for investment. Its first broadcast helped establish the programme as a regular BBC business and entertainment show.
BBC Two has traditionally carried factual, documentary and specialist programming, making it a natural home for a programme focused on entrepreneurship and investment. Dragon's Den later became one of the channel's best-known returning formats.
The programme is sometimes confused with the American series Shark Tank, which uses a different title and broadcaster. Dragon's Den is the British version, and its original British home was BBC Two rather than BBC One or a commercial channel.
