Dragons' Den originally launched in the United Kingdom on BBC Two.
The BBC began broadcasting the British version of the business reality programme in 2005. Entrepreneurs pitch business ideas to wealthy investors, seeking finance in exchange for an ownership stake. The programme combines entrepreneurship, negotiation and television entertainment.
BBC Two was historically associated with factual, arts, documentary and specialist programming, making it the channel used for the show's initial run. The series later became one of the BBC's best-known factual-entertainment formats, but its original home remains BBC Two.
This fact is sometimes confused with the channel used by other international versions or with later BBC scheduling. Dragons' Den is not the same programme as the American series Shark Tank, although both ultimately draw on the same Japanese format.
