The UK television show Dragon's Den first premiered on BBC Two in 2005.
The programme began broadcasting on 4 January 2005 as part of BBC Two's factual and entertainment schedule. Entrepreneurs enter the studio to pitch businesses to a panel of wealthy investors, asking for money in exchange for an ownership stake.
BBC Two is distinct from BBC One, the corporation's principal mainstream channel. Dragon's Den has remained strongly associated with BBC Two even though its success made it one of the channel's best-known formats.
The British series is adapted from the Japanese format Money Tigers. It is also the UK counterpart of the international Dragons' Den franchise, whose versions use different broadcasters and investors. The channel detail therefore refers specifically to the original British programme, not every international adaptation.
