On which BBC channel did the UK television show Dragon’s Den first air?

The story behind the answer

The UK television show Dragon’s Den first aired on BBC Two.

The programme premiered in January 2005 as a business reality format in which entrepreneurs present products or companies to investors. The BBC placed the series on BBC Two, where factual entertainment and business programming have traditionally been prominent.

Dragon’s Den is the British version of an international format. Its central idea is simple: contestants request investment in exchange for a stake in their business, while the investors question the proposal and decide whether to make an offer.

BBC One, BBC Three and BBC Four are all BBC channels, but none was the original home of Dragon’s Den. The programme later became one of the BBC’s best-known business series, but its launch channel remained BBC Two.
