The original UK series of Dragon's Den first aired on BBC Two.
BBC Two launched the British version of the business-investment format in 2005. The channel was already known for factual, documentary and specialist programming, making it a natural home for a programme built around entrepreneurship, negotiation and finance.
The programme’s early BBC Two broadcasts established the familiar structure: entrepreneurs entered the Den, presented their businesses and answered questions from the investor panel. Successful pitches could lead to offers, although an on-screen offer was not necessarily the same as a completed deal after filming.
BBC Two should not be confused with BBC One, which is the BBC’s main general-entertainment channel, or BBC Three and BBC Four, which have different programming remits. The channel fact concerns the original British run, rather than every later repeat, special or international adaptation of the format.
