On which BBC channel did the British television series Dragon's Den originally launch in 2005?

The story behind the answer

The British television series Dragon's Den originally launched on BBC Two in 2005.

The programme adapted the Japanese format Money Tigers, in which entrepreneurs present business proposals to wealthy investors. The British version was commissioned by the BBC and quickly became one of BBC Two's best-known factual entertainment programmes.

Dragon's Den is often confused with Dragons' Den editions in other countries, including Canada's Dragons' Den and the American series Shark Tank. Those programmes share the basic pitch-and-investment concept but have different broadcasters, investors and production histories.

Although the programme has remained strongly associated with BBC Two, its long run has included changes in presenters, investors and production arrangements. The channel is therefore a useful identifying fact about the original British series, rather than a description of every international version.
