Answer
Hiroshima And Nagasaki
Answer
Hiroshima And Nagasaki
In 1945, the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Hiroshima was attacked first, on August 6, 1945. The B-29 bomber Enola Gay dropped the uranium bomb known as Little Boy at approximately 8:15 a.m. Three days later, on August 9, the B-29 Bockscar dropped the plutonium bomb Fat Man over Nagasaki. These were the first and only wartime uses of nuclear weapons.
The bombings occurred during the final weeks of World War II in the Pacific. Japan announced its intention to surrender on August 15, and formally signed the surrender instrument on September 2. The attacks caused enormous immediate destruction, followed by deaths from burns, injuries, radiation sickness, and other long-term effects. Exact death tolls remain estimates because records were destroyed and many victims died later.
A common mix-up is naming Tokyo or Kyoto. Tokyo suffered devastating conventional firebombing, while Kyoto was considered as a potential target but removed from the list. The two cities struck by atomic bombs were Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
