On what fictional island is Jurassic Park located in the 1993 film?

The story behind the answer

In the 1993 film Jurassic Park, the dinosaur park is located on the fictional Isla Nublar.

Isla Nublar is presented as a remote island roughly 120 miles west of Costa Rica. John Hammond’s InGen company builds Jurassic Park there because its isolation helps contain the genetically engineered dinosaurs and supports the park’s tropical attractions.

The island’s name means “Cloud Island” in Spanish. It is distinct from Isla Sorna, the neighboring fictional island used as a dinosaur breeding site in The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III.

Jurassic World is also set on Isla Nublar, where the original park has been rebuilt and expanded. Some viewers confuse the two islands because both appear repeatedly in the franchise, but Isla Sorna is the setting associated with Site B and the San Diego incident.
