On what date was Mortal Kombat 1 released worldwide?

Mortal Kombat 1 was released worldwide on September 19, 2023.

Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games, Mortal Kombat 1 serves as a rebooted continuation of the series’ story. It follows the creation of a new era by Liu Kang and reimagines familiar characters, histories, and alliances within that timeline.

The game launched for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. Its new Kameo system lets players select support characters who assist during fights, adding a tag-like strategic layer to the traditional one-on-one format.

Mortal Kombat 1 is sometimes confused with the 1992 original because both titles use the name “Mortal Kombat.” The 2023 release is the modern reboot, while the 1992 game is the arcade title that began the franchise.
