On what date was Mario Kart World released worldwide?

Mario Kart World was released worldwide on June 5, 2025.

The game launched exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, making it one of the console's major launch titles. It expanded the series with an open-world design, Free Roam, rail grinding, wall riding, boat racing, and races supporting up to 24 participants.

Its release date is sometimes confused with the dates of Nintendo's hardware presentations and the Mario Kart World Direct. Nintendo first showed the game during the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement in January 2025, then presented a deeper gameplay showcase in April. Neither presentation was the game's release date.

Mario Kart World is a successor to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe rather than an expansion for it. Although development began on the original Nintendo Switch, the project was moved to Nintendo Switch 2 during development so the team could better support its larger world and 24-racer races.
