Answer
4 January 2005
Answer
4 January 2005
The British television series Dragons' Den first premiered on BBC Two on 4 January 2005.
The programme brought entrepreneurs before a panel of wealthy investors, known as Dragons, who could offer money in exchange for an ownership stake in a business. Its British launch followed the success of the Japanese format Money Tigers, which became the international Dragons' Den franchise.
The date is sometimes confused with the first broadcast of a local adaptation in another country, because the format has been remade widely. The British programme is distinct from the Canadian, Australian and Irish versions, each of which has its own launch date and investor panel.
BBC Two remained the show's original British channel, although episodes and related material later became available through BBC iPlayer. The 2005 premiere began one of the UK's longest-running televised business-investment series.
