On BBC's Dragons' Den, which Dragon founded the YO! Sushi restaurant chain?
Answer
Simon Woodroffe
Answer
Simon Woodroffe
Simon Woodroffe founded the YO! Sushi restaurant chain and later appeared as an original Dragon on BBC's Dragons' Den.
Woodroffe opened the first YO! Sushi restaurant in Soho, London, in 1997. The business became known for serving Japanese food from a conveyor belt, bringing a highly visible and theatrical format to casual dining in Britain.
He joined the first series of Dragons' Den alongside Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh and Doug Richard. Woodroffe did not remain a regular Dragon for the long term, so viewers sometimes confuse his brief tenure with that of later investors.
The YO! brand subsequently expanded beyond sushi restaurants into other food and hospitality concepts. The name is usually styled “YO!” rather than “Yo Sushi,” although both forms appear in informal references.
