"No Sleeep" is the lead single from Janet Jackson’s 2015 album Unbreakable. The song marked Jackson’s return to releasing new music after a lengthy recording break and reunited her with longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who helped shape many of her best-known records.
Released digitally on June 22, 2015, “No Sleeep” is a slow R&B and quiet-storm song about longing for a lover and anticipating a passionate reunion. The unusual spelling of “Sleeep” with three e’s became part of the song’s recognizable title. The album version includes additional verses from rapper J. Cole, while Jackson also released a solo version.
The track was especially notable because it was the first release issued through Jackson’s own Rhythm Nation label, distributed by BMG. It reached number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 in its version featuring J. Cole and topped Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart. Unbreakable became Jackson’s eleventh studio album.
