Snoop Doggy Dogg’s 1993 debut album that entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 was Doggystyle.
Released on November 23, 1993, Doggystyle was Snoop’s first studio album and one of the defining records of West Coast hip-hop. Dr. Dre produced much of the album, extending the G-funk sound associated with Dre’s The Chronic while giving Snoop’s relaxed, drawling delivery the spotlight.
Doggystyle debuted with roughly 800,000 copies sold in its first week and later became certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. Its singles included “What’s My Name?” and “Gin and Juice,” both enduring rap classics. The album is often confused with The Chronic because Dr. Dre produced both, but The Chronic is Dre’s 1992 solo debut, not Snoop’s.
