Mosslax, a peculiar Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia, is based on which species?

The story behind the answer

Mosslax is based on Snorlax in Pokémon Pokopia.

The character is a Snorlax whose body has become covered in moss. Promotional material also notes that a flower appears to be blooming on top of its head, suggesting that Mosslax has slept in the same place for an extraordinarily long time.

Mosslax is one of several peculiar-looking Pokémon encountered in the town. Other examples include Peakychu, a pale Pikachu, and Smearguru, a colorful Smeargle whose tail resembles a painter’s brush.

The name Mosslax combines the character’s moss-covered appearance with Snorlax’s familiar name. It is not a separate species or a new evolution of Snorlax. In Pokopia’s story and presentation, it is a distinctive version of the established Pokémon species.
