Microsoft Corporation was founded in which New Mexico city in 1975?
Answer
Albuquerque
Answer
Albuquerque
Microsoft Corporation was founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1975.
Bill Gates and Paul Allen established the company after developing and licensing a version of the BASIC programming language for the Altair 8800, an early microcomputer. Their first office was in Albuquerque because the Altair’s manufacturer, Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems, was based there.
Microsoft later moved its headquarters to the Seattle area, where Gates and Allen had grown up. That later location is why people sometimes incorrectly identify Seattle as the company’s birthplace.
The company was initially called Micro-Soft, a name combining “microcomputer” and “software.” Microsoft became a major force in personal computing through MS-DOS and Windows, then expanded into enterprise software, cloud computing, gaming, hardware, and online services.
