Microsoft Corporation was founded in 1975 by which two people?

The story behind the answer

Microsoft Corporation was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen.

The pair formed the company after seeing the Altair 8800, an early personal computer, featured on the cover of Popular Electronics. They developed a version of the BASIC programming language for the machine, creating an early commercial opportunity in personal computing.

Microsoft’s original name was a blend of “microcomputer” and “software.” The company initially supplied programming languages, but its later agreement to provide an operating system for IBM-compatible personal computers transformed its business.

Microsoft became a market-capitalization giant through Windows, Office, cloud computing, enterprise software, gaming, and hardware. Its history is sometimes confused with IBM’s because IBM’s personal-computer partnership helped make Microsoft’s software widely adopted, but IBM did not found Microsoft.
