Mario Mims is better known by his stage name, what is it?

Mario Mims is better known by his stage name, Yo Gotti. The Memphis rapper began performing as Lil Yo in the 1990s before adopting the name Yo Gotti for his later career. His music is rooted in Southern hip-hop and the Memphis rap scene.

Mims released independent projects including From da Dope Game 2 da Rap Game, Self-Explanatory, Life, and Back 2 da Basics. His first major-label studio album, Live from the Kitchen, arrived in 2012 after several delays. Songs such as “5 Star” and “Women Lie, Men Lie” helped expand his national profile.

A common mix-up is confusing Yo Gotti with other artists whose names include “Gotti,” particularly Irv Gotti. Yo Gotti is also associated with Collective Music Group, the Memphis-based label he founded, which later became known for artists including Moneybagg Yo and GloRilla.
