Laura Secord's warning is linked to which 1813 battle in Upper Canada?

The story behind the answer

Laura Secord's warning is linked to the 1813 Battle of Beaver Dams.

Secord's warning concerned an American plan to attack the British position at Beaver Dams in Upper Canada. After hearing the plan from American soldiers billeted at her home in Queenston, she traveled through the woods and reached British Lieutenant James FitzGibbon near the outpost.

The battle followed on June 24, 1813. Indigenous warriors, supported by a small number of British regulars, intercepted the American force and forced its surrender. The victory helped protect the Niagara frontier and strengthened British and Indigenous control in that part of Upper Canada.

Readers sometimes confuse Beaver Dams with the Battle of Stoney Creek, another important 1813 action in the Niagara campaign. Stoney Creek took place earlier, on June 6, while Beaver Dams occurred later in the month. Secord's journey is specifically associated with Beaver Dams, although Indigenous scouts had also detected the American movement.
