Kristin Kreuk, who stars in The CW's 2018 series Burden of Truth, also became widely known for Smallville. She played Lana Lang, Clark Kent's first major love interest, in the superhero drama.
Smallville premiered in 2001 and followed Clark Kent's life before he became Superman. Kreuk was one of the show's original main cast members, appearing regularly through its seventh season and returning for five episodes in season eight to complete Lana's storyline. Her performance helped make Lana one of the series' central characters.
Kreuk later returned to The CW as Catherine Chandler in Beauty & the Beast, which ran from 2012 to 2016. In Burden of Truth, she played Joanna Hanley, a big-city lawyer who returns to her Manitoba hometown and becomes involved in a case concerning sick schoolgirls. Kreuk also served as an executive producer on the legal drama.
The wording can cause confusion because Burden of Truth premiered on Canada's CBC in January 2018; The CW acquired it for U.S. broadcast later that year. Smallville is the hit most directly associated with Kreuk's earlier television career.
