Justin Timberlake started his music career as a member of NSYNC.
Before becoming a solo star and actor, Timberlake joined the pop group that became NSYNC in 1995. He and JC Chasez had previously appeared together on The All New Mickey Mouse Club, where they developed experience performing, singing, and dancing on television.
NSYNC formed in Orlando with Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, and initially Jason Galasso. Galasso soon left and was replaced by Lance Bass. Timberlake and Chasez became the group’s two lead singers, helping drive its polished vocal-pop sound.
The band achieved major international success with albums including NSYNC, No Strings Attached, and Celebrity. After NSYNC entered an indefinite hiatus in 2002, Timberlake launched his solo career with Justified, which established him as a major pop and R&B performer. His earlier appearances on television are part of his background, but NSYNC was his breakthrough music group.
