J.K. Rowling’s website Pottermore was launched in 2011.
Pottermore was announced in June 2011 and opened to the public in April 2012 after an earlier period of limited access. It was created as an official digital destination for Harry Potter readers, combining interactive experiences with new writing by Rowling.
The site offered material about characters, locations, magical subjects, and the wider history of the Wizarding World. It also included an interactive sorting experience based on the Hogwarts houses and features connected with wand selection. These elements gave readers additional ways to engage with the books.
Pottermore later changed its name to Wizarding World Digital, and the broader brand became known simply as Wizarding World. The 2011 launch date refers to the start of the Pottermore project, while later dates describe public access and subsequent rebranding. Those milestones are related but not identical.
