Ubisoft Montreal developed Origins, which launched worldwide on October 27, 2017. It was released for PlayStation 4, Windows and Xbox One, and marked a major shift toward open-world role-playing systems.
The story is set in Ptolemaic Egypt and follows Bayek of Siwa, a Medjay who becomes involved in the origins of the Hidden Ones. The game explores the historical forces that eventually lead to the Assassin Brotherhood.
Origins followed Assassin's Creed Syndicate, released in 2015, and came after a one-year break in the main series. Its RPG features include weapon levels, loot and a large explorable map.
