Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was released in 2018.
Ubisoft launched the role-playing game in October 2018 for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch cloud version available in Japan. Odyssey is set in ancient Greece during the fifth century BCE, in the period of the Peloponnesian War.
Players choose between Kassandra and Alexios as the playable mercenary. The game includes dialogue choices, branching quests, naval exploration, and a large map covering mainland Greece and many Aegean islands.
Odyssey is sometimes confused with Assassin’s Creed Origins because both games use ancient settings and expanded role-playing mechanics. Origins came first, in 2017, and is set in ancient Egypt. Odyssey followed in 2018 and takes place several centuries earlier in the series’ historical chronology.
