The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre opened in Great Missenden in 2005.
The museum is located in Buckinghamshire, the English village where Dahl lived and worked for much of his adult life. It occupies buildings in the village centre and presents material about his life, writing and creative process. Its galleries include objects, manuscripts, letters and interactive displays connected with Dahl’s stories.
The centre was established by the Roald Dahl Foundation and is designed especially for families and school visitors. It also preserves links to the local places that influenced Dahl’s work, including the village and the countryside around it.
Great Missenden is sometimes confused with Cardiff, where Dahl was born. Cardiff is his birthplace, while Great Missenden was his long-term home and the location of the museum. The museum’s opening date is also distinct from Dahl’s death in 1990.
