In which year did the Irish version of Dragon’s Den first debut on RTÉ One?

The story behind the answer

The Irish version of Dragon’s Den first debuted on RTÉ One in 2009.

The Irish adaptation brought the investor-pitch format to the Republic of Ireland, where entrepreneurs presented businesses and proposals to a panel of Irish investors. It was produced for RTÉ One as a local version of the international franchise.

The Irish series is separate from the British programme, even though both use the Dragon’s Den name and the same basic format. Their investors, production teams and broadcast histories are different.

The date is sometimes confused with the launch years of other adaptations. The British series began in 2005, Canada’s version began in 2006, and the United States used the title Shark Tank from 2009. The Irish programme’s debut year was also 2009.
