C.S. Lewis published The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 1952.
The novel is the third published installment of The Chronicles of Narnia and follows Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, who return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace Scrubb. They join King Caspian aboard the ship Dawn Treader on a voyage toward the eastern edge of the world.
The story is structured around a series of islands and encounters, including the transformation of Eustace after he becomes a dragon. The book also develops the idea of a journey reaching beyond ordinary geographical limits, a recurring feature of Narnian storytelling.
Publication order can cause confusion because modern editions often number the Narnia books according to internal chronology. Regardless of numbering systems, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was published in 1952, after Prince Caspian and before The Silver Chair.
