In which year did Canada's television adaptation Dragons' Den first premiere?

The story behind the answer

Canada's television adaptation Dragons' Den first premiered in 2006.

The Canadian series adapts the same international format as the British Dragon's Den: entrepreneurs present businesses to wealthy investors and negotiate for financing in exchange for equity or another commercial arrangement.

The programme debuted on CBC Television and developed its own panel, business culture and group of contestants. Although the title is nearly identical to the British version, it is a separate national production rather than a continuation of the BBC series.

International adaptations can create date confusion because several versions launched within a few years of one another. The British edition began in 2005, while the Canadian edition began in 2006. The United States adaptation uses the different title Shark Tank.
