Beyoncé headlined Coachella in 2018, the performance later becoming Homecoming.
Beyoncé headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2018. Her performance was widely praised for its scale, choreography, marching-band arrangements, and celebration of historically Black colleges and universities. She was the first Black woman to headline the festival.
The set included appearances by Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, reuniting Destiny’s Child onstage. Beyoncé also incorporated the work of HBCU marching bands and step traditions into the show, giving the performance a strong cultural and educational frame.
The concert documentary Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé premiered on Netflix in April 2019. It combined rehearsal footage, backstage material, and the recorded festival performance. A live album titled Homecoming: The Live Album was released alongside the film. The year is sometimes confused with 2019 because that is when the documentary appeared, but the Coachella headline performances took place in 2018.
