Assassin's Creed Origins first released in 2017.
Ubisoft launched Assassin's Creed Origins in October 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. The game follows Bayek of Siwa in ancient Egypt and explores the historical circumstances surrounding the formation of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later becomes associated with the Assassin Brotherhood.
Origins marked a major structural shift for the franchise. It introduced stronger role-playing systems, character levels, gear rarity, dialogue choices, and a larger emphasis on exploration. Its setting includes Alexandria, Memphis, Cyrene, and extensive desert regions.
The title's release is sometimes confused with Assassin's Creed Syndicate in 2015 or Assassin's Creed Odyssey in 2018. Those are neighboring entries in the series' release chronology. Origins specifically launched in 2017 and served as a historical prequel to the later Assassin tradition.
