In which U.S. state is the Grave Digger monster truck team based?

The Grave Digger monster truck team is based in North Carolina.

The team’s listed home city is Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, on the Outer Banks. That is also where creator and original driver Dennis Anderson established Grave Digger’s roots. The truck began locally as Anderson’s mud bogger before becoming a nationally recognized monster-truck team.

Anderson built the first Grave Digger in 1982 from salvaged parts. After a surprise opportunity to crush cars at a show, he shifted toward monster-truck competition. The truck gained its famous black graveyard appearance in 1986, and the team eventually expanded into multiple trucks and drivers.

Some readers may associate Grave Digger with Florida, Nevada, or other states because Monster Jam events take place nationwide and the team has competed at major stadiums across the country. Those venues are not its home base. The team was sold to Pace Motorsports in 1998, later becoming part of Feld Entertainment, but its North Carolina identity remains tied to its origin and headquarters.
