In which Tokyo ward is Sony Group Corporation's headquarters located?

The story behind the answer

Sony Group Corporation's headquarters is located in Minato, Tokyo.

Sony was founded in 1946 as Tokyo Tsushin Kenkyujo, or Tokyo Telecommunications Research Institute, by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita. The company adopted the name Sony in 1958 as it pursued internationally recognizable consumer-electronics branding. Its headquarters campus is in the Shinagawa area of Minato, one of Tokyo's 23 special wards.

Sony developed products such as transistor radios, Trinitron televisions, the Walkman, and the PlayStation. Over time, the group expanded into music, film, financial services, sensors, and gaming. Because Sony has major studios, research centers, and offices in many countries, those operations are not the same as its group headquarters.

Shibuya and Shinjuku are also prominent Tokyo business districts, while Chiyoda contains Japan's national government center. The relevant administrative ward for Sony's headquarters is Minato.
