In which German town is Adidas AG headquartered?
Answer
Herzogenaurach
Answer
Herzogenaurach
Adidas AG is headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria, Germany.
The company’s headquarters campus, known as “World of Sports,” is in Herzogenaurach, a town near Nuremberg. Adidas grew from the shoe workshop of Adolf “Adi” Dassler, who began producing sports shoes with his brother Rudolf in the early twentieth century. Their partnership ended in a feud, and Adi Dassler founded Adidas in 1949.
Rudolf Dassler founded Puma soon afterward, also in Herzogenaurach. The rivalry between the two brothers divided the town for decades and helped make Herzogenaurach famous in the sporting-goods industry. The headquarters locations of Adidas and Puma are therefore unusually close, though they are separate companies.
Adidas is named from Adi Dassler’s nickname and surname. Its three-stripe mark is one of the best-known sports logos, but the company has used several related logo designs over its history.
